Jatav is a different caste and chamar is a different caste.
1.Chamars have gotra system but jatav have no gotra system.
2. Chamars r follower of Guru Ravidas where Jatavs are Followers of ambedkar.
3. Chamaars consider Jatavs to be of a lower caste than themselves.
4. Chamars have their own Brahmins known as Gurra Brahmin or Chamarwa Brahmin.
Famous case among these 2 communities-: There is a very famous case in delhi 10-12 years ago, Where people of Chamar community had built a temple of Guru Ravidas, but people of Jatav community of the same locality filed a case in the court that Guru Ravidas temple should be demolished and Ambedkar's statue and Boudh vihar should be built on it. The case went on in the court for 6-7 years and finally the Chamaar community won.

5. The Chamars have a good military history. The Chamars had their own Chamar Regiment(1943–1956) in the British Empire as well as the 34th Royal Sikhs pioneers, 32nd Sikh pioneers, 23rd Sikh Pioneers and Sikh Light infrantry in which Chamar sikh(Ramdasia / Ravidassia) and Mazhabi Sikhs were recruited.
