Filmation Associates was an American production company founded by Lou Scheimer, Hal Sutherland and Norm Prescott in 1962,[3] before closing by Group W Productions on February 3, 1989.[4] Located in Reseda, California, Filmation produced animated and live-action productions for cinema and television.
Notable productions that the company produced included the DC Comics and Archie Comics animated adaptations, Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, the animated version of Star Trek and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. As of now, DreamWorks Animation, through DreamWorks Classics, owns all of the company's library (except third-party licensed properties).
