Pamela Rendi-Wagner (born Joy Pamela Wagner, 7 May 1971) is an Austrian physician and politician who is the current director of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control,[1] and who previously served as chairwoman of the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) from 2018 to 2023. She was the first woman to lead the SPÖ.[2][3][4]
From 2011 to 2017, she served as director-general for public health in the Austrian Ministry of Health. She served as minister for health and women from March to December 2017. Rendi-Wagner was elected to the National Council for the SPÖ in the 2017 election, and became parliamentary leader in October 2018.[5][6] She was the SPÖ's lead candidate in the 2019 election.[7] In June 2024, Rendi-Wagner was appointed Director of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.[1]
