The Sharif family (Urdu and Punjabi: شریف خاندان) is the most prominent political family in Pakistan and is based in Lahore. The Sharif Family are Punjabi-speaking Kashmiris with their origin in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir and settled in Punjab in the late 20th century.

Muhammad Sharif, the father of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, migrated from Jati Umra, Amritsar District (now in Tarn Taran district, India, after the creation of Pakistan in 1947). He was a businessman who founded the Ittefaq Group and Sharif Group in 1939.[1] Sharif's other son Shehbaz Sharif currently serving as Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2024.
