Torkamanchay (Persian: تركمانچای, Azerbaijani: Türkmənçay/تورکمنچای)^[a] is a city in, and the capital of, Torkamanchay District of Mianeh County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran,^[4] and also serves as the administrative center for Barvanan-e Markazi Rural District.^[5] A suburb of Mianeh, it is well known for the Treaty of Turkmenchay of 1828.^{[citation needed]}
