This page in a nutshell: Giving new users loads of oddly-titled, shouty links to click through to is not helpful. |
New users are often left messages by experienced users, who are acting in good faith.
However, because we've been around here a while, the oddness and shoutiness of seeing alphabetti spaghetti links like "WP:BLP" has long since worn off for us. Unfortunately, the new user sees them as... odd and shouty.
Try toning down odd shouty wikilinks to policies and guidelines. Either explain what they are, or use explanatory text in a piped link.
