Austria Inferior (Theodisce Niederösterreich) est secundum aream civitas maxima Austriae et secundum populationem civitas secunda maxima. Primum sub nomine "Ostarrîchi" commemorata est anno 996. Cum saeculo vicesimo Vindobona non esset pars Austriae Inferioris, mansit caput civitatis usque ad annum 1986, quo anno Cetium novum caput civitatis et sedes senatus facta est.
