Columna vertebralis[1] sive spinalis dorsalis[2] seu spina dorsi[3] est in animalibus vertebratis, ergo etiam in homine, complexus 32–34 ossium, quae vertebrae dicuntur, et discorum intervertebralium, qui inter vertebras sunt. Columna vertebralis corpus sustinet medullamque spinalem teget.

Columna vertebralis hominis in quinque partes divisa est: partem cervicalem, thoracalem, lumbalem, os sacrum fusione vertebrarum ssacralium quinque, os coccygis.
