Malayupura adolah namo pusek pamarentahan atau karajaan Rajo Adityawarman, nan lataknyo dipakiroan di kanagarian Pagaruyuang jo daerah sakitanyo (Buo, Saruaso).[1][2] Namo Malayupura (aratinyo 'Nagari Malayu') ko tasabuik dalam batu basurek paninggalan Rajo Adityawarman, batarikh 1347 M, nan tapahek di bagian balakang patuang Amoghapasa.[1][3][4][5]
Pamakaian istilah 'Malayu' untuak pusek pamarentahan di dataran tinggi Minangkabau ko, satalah sabalunnyo dipakai di Dharmasraya (di ulu Batang Hari) jo Jambi (muaro Batang Hari), manunjuakan kamungkinan bagisianyo pusek Karajaan Malayu dari pasisia timur ka tangah padalaman pulau Sumatera.[2][5]
Satalah maso Rajo Adityawarman jo panaruihnyo Ananggawarman pado akia abaik ka-14 tu, tajadi kakosongan barito manganai karajaan ko salamo babarapo abaik.[3] Babagai paninggalan budayo, batu basurek, jo arkeologi nan ado, dipakiroan pado maso tu mulailah tabantuak adaik-budayo jo kakuatan ekonomi nan kusuih Minangkabau.[2][3]
Muncua lai barito manganai daerah tu pado awa abaik ka-16, dek urang-urang Portugih nan mulai manyabuik namo Pagaruyuang sabagai namo karajaan ko.[2] Salah satunyo Tomé Pires (1513-1515), nan manulih baso daerah ko barado di bawah kakuasoan tigo rajo nan manatap di padalaman Minangkabau, namun wilayah kakuasoannyo macakuik juo pasisia timur (Rokan, Kampar, Siak, Indragiri, Jambi) jo pasisia barat (Barus, Tiku, Pariaman) pulau Sumatera.[6]
