An empire or rik^[a] is defined as "an aggregate o naitions or fowk ruled ower bi an emperor or ither pouerfu sovereign or govrenment, uisually a territory o greater extent nor a kinrick, as the umwhile Brítish Empire, French Empire, Spaingie Empire, Roushie Empire, Byzantine Empire or Roman Empire."^[1]
